There is a child somewhere in all of us. The one inside me is wondering today, which is the latest video game I can get my hands on? Are you too looking for the best video game of the year (so far)? Here’s the Top 10 list.

1. Apex Legends

Apex Legends is one of the best free-to-play Battle Royale Shooter games with a 60-player match environment. It is developed by Respawn Entertainment, a video game development studio renowned for its top-notch game of 2014, Titanfall.

Apex Legends is a last-player-standing competitive, team-based game wherein you start as a squad of 3 and skydive onto a huge island with no weapons or armor. Firstly, you need to pick a powerful legend, you can most relate to. After that, combine your abilities with the other 2 characters in the squad, and enjoy the ultra-modern shooter controls to win the battle to glory and fame.

This irresistible video game launches with 20 groups of 3 players battling against each other. The catch is the diverse roster of 8 characters called ‘legends’ with unique powers and abilities, to choose from. Moreover, you can unlock more characters with paid or earned currency.

2. Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is a Survival Horror video game that is topping the charts of 2019. A first-person shooter game, Metro Exodus is the third in the Metro series from 4A Games following Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Night.

It is a grand story-driven game, set in the dreadful post-apocalyptic wasteland of former Russian Federation. It marks the beginning with Earth being loaded and devastated due to enormous nuclear radiation, subsequently causing unpredictable weather switches. As the story progresses, days change into nights, seasons change reflecting dynamic environment over a course of 365 days.

The player takes up the character of Artyom, who embarks on the journey to the far east along with Anna, his wife, to find a better life.  You can pick the state-of the-art weaponry, explore and move ahead surreptitiously, combating with mutants, fanatics, and monsters to survive till end while coping with fatal hazards.

3. Resident Evil 2

Coated completely with a new paint, the 1998 survival horror classic, Resident Evil 2 is the new masterpiece of 2019.

The new terrifying gore-filled environments of the same Raccoon City scare the hell out of the players, while they assume the role of  rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield. The story surrounds the two amidst the sudden zombie outburst, and their struggle to get out alive. Their fate remains in the hands of the players, where they explore the dark menacing scene, solve puzzles to access and collect objects to fight the wild battle with enemies for survival.

To sum up, with modernized weapons, spectacular visuals, heartpoundingly immersive sounds, and a new over-the-shoulder perspective, Resident Evil 2 has got the best possible makeover.

4. Kingdom Hearts III

An action-adventure game, Kingdom Hearts III, developed by Square Enix, concludes the colossal Kingdom Hearts series. Long awaited, it took over a decade to arrive.

Kingdom Hearts III follows the story of Sora, a teenager and the main character, on his journey to reunite with his friends and thwart the Heartless from leading the second keyblade war.

Set in the worlds of Disney and Pixar, Kingdom Hearts III is packed with breathtaking graphics in abundance. Moreover, the very popular Disney characters Donald Duck, Goofy, King Mickey and Riku are a part of Sora’s brigade and they all together fight against the darkness haunting their worlds.

5. The Division 2

Division 2, a shared world shooter video game, is the second in the Division series by Tom Clancy. It is developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft.

Set in the post-apocalyptic land of Washington, DC, it follows the story from its prequel, the Division. It envisions the aftermath of the smallpox outbreak that led to global devastation in the original game.

It is a third-person shooter game, with the players forming a ‘squad’ of agents named as ‘Strategic Homeland Division’. Their target is to battle against the hyenas, the outcasts and the true sons and revamp the city.

Division 2 is certainly superior to its predecessor in terms of having more challenging enemies, highly advanced weapons, a fascinating storyline, fresh objectives, and  astoundingly realistic visuals.

6. Devil May Cry 5

Capcom’s Devil May Cry 5, is the fifth edition of the hack-and-slash franchise. It follows the narrative of its prequel Devil May Cry 4, with Nero and Dante still battling the demons. In addition, the two main protagonists are joined by a new character named V, forming a crew of 3 super-stylish agents.

DMC5 has the most powerful cinematic sets presenting the Red Grave city, with a baddie appearing in the form of a giant tree uprooting to guzzle the blood of the innocent citizens.

It is a third-person action game, wherein the player can take any of the three role-plays and confront around two dozen flying demons. Equipped with ultra modernized weapons, fast-paced devilish action, this masterpiece has just nailed it in the 3D action genre.

7. New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe

The fan-favorite character Mario has made a comeback with New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. A 2D side-scrolling platform video game, it is developed by Nintendo for its own video game console, Nintendo Switch. The deluxe version packs straight forward controls, few new features, multiple game playing modes in an incredibly new package.

A remake of the original Wii U game, it presents 2 games in one, the Mario Bros. U and the Super Luigi U. You can form a team of up to 4 playable characters with the new Nabbit and Toadette to explore the glorious mushroom kingdom and rescue Princess Peach imprisoned by Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings.

8. Anthem


An action-role playing video game, Anthem is Bioware’s new blockbuster. It is set on a world with unforseeable threats and world shaking events, depicted through gorgeous graphics.

The players are assumed to take the role of heroic adventurers, picking up one of the customizable exosuits, and forming a team of up to 3 players. The capabilities, gears, weapons, and equipment are loaded in the powerful javelin exosuits that define a player’s role.

9. Tetris 99

Another battle royale game on the list is Nintendo’s Tetris 99. It is a free to play online version of the classic original, wherein one has to knock out 98 other players to win the battle.

A last-player-standing video game, Tetris 99 is developed by Arika and released for Nintendo Switch by Nintendo.

The ruleset of the iconic game remains the same as ever. The players rotate and move falling blocks called tetriminos to complete horizontal lines which disappear on completion. It is a fast paced game with the blocks falling faster and faster with time.

The key to success is to keep up your pace and send garbage blocks to obstruct other players.

10. Mortal Kombat 11

NetherRealm Studios has brought a new triumphant edition of the Mortal Kombat Series, the Mortal Kombat 11. A brutal fighting video game, it has evolved with a new narrative in continuation to the heroic tale.

The players can pick from a roster of past and present characters and customize almost everything about them including their skins, gears, unique abilities and fatalities. A new character Geras is introduced, who has the power to manipulate time.

The weapons have been made more modern with the new fatal blows and krushing blows coming into the scene. Enhanced graphics and visuals has given this video game, a fantastic makeover.
